Lil' Wayne, The Game & Young Jeezy To Perform At The BET Hip Hop Awards
Lil' Wayne, The Game, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Common, T-Pain and more will be hitting the stage at BET's 3rd Annual Hip Hop Awards later this month.
The mix of rap superstars are scheduled to perform at the annual award hosted by comedian Katt Williams and will also be joined by Pharrell's group N.E.R.D. and the Lady of Rage. Despite the overwhelming amount of Southern acts, Wu-Tang Clan's GZA, Raekwon, Masta Killa, U-God, Inspectah Deck and RZA will be representing the Big Apple as they are billed to make appearances.
Another New York act set to play the role as celebrity announcer will be Jadakiss while DJ "Barack-O" Drama will be behind the deejay booth spinning throughout the evening.
This year's show will pay homage to female pioneers within hip-hop.
Russell Simmons will also be honored with the "I Am Hip Hop Icon Award" and the "Hot 16" freestyle challenge will have challengers compete online for a chance to record with hit producers Jermaine Dupri.
Other nominees for this year's event include David Banner, Plies, Flo Rida, DJ Khaled, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes and more.
As previously reported by SOHH, Weezy, Kanye West and Jay-Z all lead the ceremony's nominees.
The self-proclaimed "Greatest Rapper Alive" leads the pack with a total of 12 nods including "Best Hip Hop Video" for his VMA-winning record "Lollipop" and "Track of the Year" due to his non-stop thumping "A Milli."
Ye follows with a sum of seven nods in categories "Best Live Performer" and "CD of the Year" for his multi-platinum selling album Graduation.
Jay evens the pan one nod shy of the mega hit maker being nominated for six different awards including "Lyricist of the Year" where he will face off against Nas, T.I., Ye and Weezy.
The BET Hip Hop Awards will air on Thursday, October 23 at 8 p.m. EST from Atlanta.
